Education

Educational technology studies are future-oriented: studies integrate contemporary understanding of learning and education with novel adaptations of information and communication technologies (ICT) in a way that prepares students for requirements of constantly changing society (e.g. FinnSight 2015, 2006).

Educational technology -studies consist of introductory studies (25 ects), intermediate studies (35 ects) and master's degree programme EDUTOOL. All studies include international courses. During studies students also learn about working life via real-life learning cases.

All courses are based on the following approaches:

  • Research based approach: Design and implementation of the studies is carried out in collaboration with researchers of the Learning and Educational Technology Research Unit
  • Learning sciences approach: working and studying methods are designed based on the research in the field of learning sciences (i.e. collaborative learning)
  • Technological approach: adaptive, social media based learning technology solutions are being used to support individual and collaborative learning during courses.

Keywords: Collaborative learning, CSCL, motivation, self-regulated learning, adaptive expertise, information society development, social media solutions, pedagogical expertise
